Beth  Muller
Women's Track and Field
Beth Muller fell one win short of her second straight sprint trifecta, but still won the 55- and 200-yard dashes, to lead the Allegheny women's indoor track and field team to third place out of eight teams at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships at Denison. She was named Sprinter/Hurdler of the Year for the second straight season.

Muller repeated as the 55 champ with a time of 7.51 seconds and then successfully defended her title in the 200 (:26.37).

As the defending champ in the 400, Muller was beat out by Marissa Clardy of Oberlin. Muller finished the race in 1:00.08 while Clardy came in at :59.39.
Tony Dipre
Men's Track and Field
Allegheny's Tony Dipre set a meet record and posted an NCAA automatic-qualifying time while winning the mile at the North Coast Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships. He was also a member of the winning Distance Medley Relay team for the Gators, who placed third among nine teams at Denison.

Dipre, who was named the NCAC Distance Runner of the Year, claimed his individual win with a time of 4:10.84 and held off Denison's Makorobondo Salukombo (4:12.23). The previous meet record was set in 2009 by the Gators' Jeramie Parker (4:13.89). The Blue and Gold has now won three straight indoor miles at NCACs.

Mike Vlah, Alex Gorski and Chris Marker joined Dipre on the DMR squad, which clocked in at 10:35.79.

Wittenberg defeats Gators, 3-0

MEADVILLE, Pa. – Kimmie Dyer recorded nine kills and Christina Gilene tallied 18 digs to lead Wittenberg to a 3-0 victory over Allegheny in North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) volleyball action on Friday night.

 

The Tigers (11-3, 7-0 NCAC) kept their conference record unblemished, winning 25-18, 25-16 and 25-15. Caitlin Solan paced the Gators (10-11, 4-3 NCAC) with six kills, while Sarah Sckena collected 15 digs to put her over 300 digs for the season.

 

Jordan Leopold hit the 200 mark in kills, only needing one and getting four on the night to go with eight digs. Caileigh Hughes finished with 16 assists.

 

In the first set, Wittenberg used a 7-2 run in the beginning to take a six-point lead at 15-9. From there, the Tigers kept a steady five-point lead to cruise to a 25-18 win for a 1-0 edge. Wittenberg rallied back in the second set. Allegheny recorded kills from Hughes and Solan to take an 8-5 lead to force a Tiger timeout.

 

Wittenberg scored five points in a row to erase a two-point deficit and take the first lead of the set. The next eight out of 10 points, including two straight aces form Hillary Monnin and one from Katie Sumner for a 25-16 final.

 

The Tigers did not give Allegheny a chance in the third set, jumping out to a 19-7 lead behind four kills from Snead. Caitlin Rothman and Lindsey McClement each had two blocks in this set, but Wittenberg stayed strong and posted a 25-15 victory for the match.

 

The Gators return to action tomorrow against Earlham. Match time is 1 p.m.
