Athletes of the Week
Tony Dipre
Men's Track and Field
Allegheny's Tony Dipre set a meet record and posted an NCAA automatic-qualifying time while winning the mile at the North Coast Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships. He was also a member of the winning Distance Medley Relay team for the Gators, who placed third among nine teams at Denison.

Dipre, who was named the NCAC Distance Runner of the Year, claimed his individual win with a time of 4:10.84 and held off Denison's Makorobondo Salukombo (4:12.23). The previous meet record was set in 2009 by the Gators' Jeramie Parker (4:13.89). The Blue and Gold has now won three straight indoor miles at NCACs.

Mike Vlah, Alex Gorski and Chris Marker joined Dipre on the DMR squad, which clocked in at 10:35.79.
Beth Muller
Women's Track and Field
Beth Muller fell one win short of her second straight sprint trifecta, but still won the 55- and 200-yard dashes, to lead the Allegheny women's indoor track and field team to third place out of eight teams at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships at Denison. She was named Sprinter/Hurdler of the Year for the second straight season.

Muller repeated as the 55 champ with a time of 7.51 seconds and then successfully defended her title in the 200 (:26.37).

As the defending champ in the 400, Muller was beat out by Marissa Clardy of Oberlin. Muller finished the race in 1:00.08 while Clardy came in at :59.39.

MEADVILLE, Pa. - Allegheny women's soccer player Monica Schaffer led a group of seven Gators with her All-NCAC First Team honor. Meanwhile, junior Nicole Mascia, sophomores Alex Gordon and Emily Karr and freshman Ashley Lehr were named to the Second Team while senior Ashley Miller and sophomore Becky Arndt received Honorable Mentions, as voted by the conference's nine head coaches.

Schaffer, a senior defender, started all 19 games for the Gators (11-6-2, 4-2-2). In her four years, she appeared in 65 games, starting 53, and made one assist. Schaffer was also a captain during her fourth season.

Karr, a goalkeeper, set the Allegheny College record for shutouts in a season with 11. She now ranks second on the Gators' all-time shutouts list with 17 and trails only Deb Klinefelter (1987-90), who had 21. In 2009, Karr started 18 games and finished with a 10-6-2 record. She had a 0.61 goals-against average and, with her 57 saves, compiled a .838 save percentage.

Mascia led the squad with five goals, including one game winner. She tallied the lone goal in a 1-0 win over Oberlin. Gordon had one goal and one assist -- the goal being a game winner during the Gators' 1-0 victory against Hiram. Lehr tallied one goal and three assists.

Miller started all 19 games in her final year at Allegheny, finishing with four goals and one assist. Over the course of her career, she appeared in 74 games, made 56 starts and recorded 15 goals and seven assists. Arndt contributed two goals in 2009 -- both which were game winners: one in a 4-0 win over Elizabethtown and the other in a 4-0 victory against Penn State Behrend.
