SPRINGFIELD, Ohio -- The Allegheny women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Wittenberg in a North Coast Athletic Conference semifinal on Wednesday night.

Kailey Striebel scored the game's only goal -- and first tally by either team in their last four meetings -- to lift the Tigers. She was assisted by Taylor Goss in the 50th minute.

The Gators made a late push, but could not come through with an equalizer. Kira Kliment blasted a shot from 40 yards out and hit the crossbar in the 87th minute. Ashley Lehr had a shot blocked inside the box shortly afterward before Nicole Mascia shot Allegheny's final attempt wide left in the 88th.

Melissa Gartner made five saves to claim the shutout for second-seed Wittenberg (10-4-5). At the opposite end, Emily Karr stopped five shots for the No. 3 seed Gators (11-6-2).

With the victory, the Tigers earned the right to host the NCAC Tournament championship game against fourth-seed Earlham on Saturday at 1 p.m.. The Quakers upset top-seed Denison, 1-0, on Tuesday.
