Tony Dipre
Men's Track and Field
Allegheny's Tony Dipre set a meet record and posted an NCAA automatic-qualifying time while winning the mile at the North Coast Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships. He was also a member of the winning Distance Medley Relay team for the Gators, who placed third among nine teams at Denison.

Dipre, who was named the NCAC Distance Runner of the Year, claimed his individual win with a time of 4:10.84 and held off Denison's Makorobondo Salukombo (4:12.23). The previous meet record was set in 2009 by the Gators' Jeramie Parker (4:13.89). The Blue and Gold has now won three straight indoor miles at NCACs.

Mike Vlah, Alex Gorski and Chris Marker joined Dipre on the DMR squad, which clocked in at 10:35.79.

Women's Track and Field
Beth Muller fell one win short of her second straight sprint trifecta, but still won the 55- and 200-yard dashes, to lead the Allegheny women's indoor track and field team to third place out of eight teams at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships at Denison. She was named Sprinter/Hurdler of the Year for the second straight season.

Muller repeated as the 55 champ with a time of 7.51 seconds and then successfully defended her title in the 200 (:26.37).

As the defending champ in the 400, Muller was beat out by Marissa Clardy of Oberlin. Muller finished the race in 1:00.08 while Clardy came in at :59.39.

Three named to All-NCAC volleyball team

MEADVILLE, Pa. – Three members of the Allegheny volleyball team were awarded All-North Coast Athletic Conference honors when the team was announced on Saturday afternoon. Senior Caitlin Solan was named to the First Team, while juniors Jordan Leopold and Caileigh Hughes earned Honorable Mention.

 

Solan, an outside hitter, was named to the First Team after appearing on the All-NCAC Second Team last season. She leads the team and ranks sixth in the conference in kills (335), while ranking third on the squad in digs (387) blocks (61).

Leopold is earning her first all-conference nod as an outside hitter. She ranks second on the team in kills (297) and digs (446). Leopold averages 2.43 kills and 3.69 digs per set, while pacing the squad in aces (40).

Hughes is also being selected to the All-NCAC honorable mention for the first time in her career. In her 118 games played, she averaged 8.08 assists and 1.86 digs per set. Hughes almost hit the 1,000 mark in assists, finishing with 964. She also added 45 blocks and 19 services aces on the season.

The Gators wrapped up the2009 season with a 16-17 mark and earning the fourth seed in the NCAC Tournament. Allegheny fell in the semifinals to eventual champion Wittenberg, 3-0.
