Tony Dipre
Men's Track and Field
Allegheny's Tony Dipre set a meet record and posted an NCAA automatic-qualifying time while winning the mile at the North Coast Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships. He was also a member of the winning Distance Medley Relay team for the Gators, who placed third among nine teams at Denison.

Dipre, who was named the NCAC Distance Runner of the Year, claimed his individual win with a time of 4:10.84 and held off Denison's Makorobondo Salukombo (4:12.23). The previous meet record was set in 2009 by the Gators' Jeramie Parker (4:13.89). The Blue and Gold has now won three straight indoor miles at NCACs.

Mike Vlah, Alex Gorski and Chris Marker joined Dipre on the DMR squad, which clocked in at 10:35.79.

Women's Track and Field
Beth Muller fell one win short of her second straight sprint trifecta, but still won the 55- and 200-yard dashes, to lead the Allegheny women's indoor track and field team to third place out of eight teams at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships at Denison. She was named Sprinter/Hurdler of the Year for the second straight season.

Muller repeated as the 55 champ with a time of 7.51 seconds and then successfully defended her title in the 200 (:26.37).

As the defending champ in the 400, Muller was beat out by Marissa Clardy of Oberlin. Muller finished the race in 1:00.08 while Clardy came in at :59.39.

Former Men's Soccer Player Nate Yates Signs With Ohio Vortex of PASL

CANTON, Ohio -- Former Allegheny College men's soccer midfielder Nate Yates was recently signed to the Ohio Vortex professional indoor soccer team, a newly-formed franchise based in Canton and a member of the Premier Arena Soccer League (PASL).

Yates is one of 18 players to sign the Vortex. The PASL was established in 1997 and is the largest international indoor soccer league in the world. The PASL currently sponsors 54 Premier teams in 10 divisions acros the United States and is the official developmental league of the PASL, which debuted in 2008.

Yates, a three-time All-North Coast Athletic Conference honoree, graduated from Allegheny in the spring of 2009. He was named to the All-NCAC First Team in 2008 and to the Second Team in 2006. In 2005, he received an Honorable Mention.

With the Gators, Yates appeared in 69 games and made 56 starts. He compiled nine goals, including six game winners, and nine assists.

The Vortex began their 2009 season on Nov. 14 and lost to the Detroit Waza, 6-4. Their next game will take place at the Cleveland Metroplex on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
