Beth  Muller
Women's Track and Field
Beth Muller fell one win short of her second straight sprint trifecta, but still won the 55- and 200-yard dashes, to lead the Allegheny women's indoor track and field team to third place out of eight teams at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships at Denison. She was named Sprinter/Hurdler of the Year for the second straight season.

Muller repeated as the 55 champ with a time of 7.51 seconds and then successfully defended her title in the 200 (:26.37).

As the defending champ in the 400, Muller was beat out by Marissa Clardy of Oberlin. Muller finished the race in 1:00.08 while Clardy came in at :59.39.
Tony Dipre
Men's Track and Field
Allegheny's Tony Dipre set a meet record and posted an NCAA automatic-qualifying time while winning the mile at the North Coast Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships. He was also a member of the winning Distance Medley Relay team for the Gators, who placed third among nine teams at Denison.

Dipre, who was named the NCAC Distance Runner of the Year, claimed his individual win with a time of 4:10.84 and held off Denison's Makorobondo Salukombo (4:12.23). The previous meet record was set in 2009 by the Gators' Jeramie Parker (4:13.89). The Blue and Gold has now won three straight indoor miles at NCACs.

Mike Vlah, Alex Gorski and Chris Marker joined Dipre on the DMR squad, which clocked in at 10:35.79.

Carroll Topples Gators at Land of Magic Classic

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Carroll had 13 players put points on the board, led by Mariss Haug and Janelle Groer with 13 points each to post a 87-58 victory over Allegheny in the Land of Magic Classic in Daytona Beach, Florida on Tuesday.

 

The Pioneers (5-4) shot 67 percent from behind the arc (8-for-12) and over 55 percent from the field in both halves to pick up their fifth win of the season and second straight of the tournament. Haug was 3 of 4 on three-pointers and Lyndsey Seewald went 2-for-3 on triples.

 

The Gators (4-7) had three players in double figures. Jill Gregory and Heidi Goeller repeated in double digits from yesterday, scoring 13 and 12, respectively. Emilie Simone chipped in 10 points.

 

For the second consecutive game, Allegheny did not reach double digits until midway through the first half. Carroll held the Gators to just six points in the first eight minutes and relied on 10 points from Seewald to take a commanding 22-6 lead at the 11:35 mark.

 

Gregory tallied four straight points and Goeller drove in for the layup to make it 24-12. The Pioneers would not let Allegheny get closer than 11 points the rest of the contest, eventually building a 19-point advantage by halftime.

 

Carroll went 15-for-26 from the floor In the second half. The Pioneers managed to knock in all of their three-pointers of the second half in the first 2:27 to grab their largest lead at 61-31.

 

Shannon Culbreath recorded six points and Daryl Ford added five points in the second half.

 

Allegheny returns to action on Tuesday, January 5 at Oberlin. Game time is 7 p.m.
