Game 2 BoxscoreMEADVILLE, Pa. - Amanda Downey threw a five-hit shutout in game two, while Rachel Ryan went 4-for-5 with three RBIs and a home run to help Allegheny sweep Baldwin-Wallace in a non-conference softball doubleheader on Thursday.
Ryan not only scored the game-winning run in a 2-1 victory in the opener, but she smacked her sixth home run of the season to cap a five-hit third inning in the nightcap to lead the Gators (17-13) over the Yellow Jackets (20-12), 8-0.
Tanya Davis had a 3-for-3 performance in the first game and Chelsea Saunders added two hits in the second for Baldwin-Wallace.
In game one, all the runs were scored in the first inning. Mallory Kobak tripled and scored on an error for the lone Yellow Jackets run. Allegheny had its turn at bat and recorded three hits in the bottom of the frame, plating two runs to take a 2-1 lead.
Marci Potuzko reached on a fielder's choice and Ryan singled, before Bessie Artino had her ball kiss the fence for a two RBI double.
The Allegheny defense forced Baldwin-Wallace to go three and out in the next five innings to preserve the one-run victory.
Stacey Robertshaw picked up her 10th win of the season on the mound. The freshman gave up four hits and one run.
In game two, Maggie Bodenlos and Allison Piper each singled and scored on Ryan's long ball for a 3-0 lead in the third inning.
