Game 1 Boxscore | Game 2 Boxscore

MEADVILLE, Pa. - Allison Piper scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth on Stephanie Baer's RBI single to lead Allegheny to a 4-3 comeback victory over Wooster in game one of a North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) softball doubleheader on Thursday.

The Gators (20-14, 8-4 NCAC) completed the sweep with an 8-0 shut-out win in game two. Amanda Downey earned her fifth victory in the circle, striking out five and only allowing one hit.

Maggie Bodenlos tallied back-to-back multiple hit games, going a combined 4-for-7 with two RBIs and a triple. Bessie Artino recorded three hits, three RBIs and a home run on the day.

Priscilla Staples led the Fighting Scots (6-32, 3-9 NCAC) in game one with a 3-for-4 performance.

With game one tied at 3-all in the ninth, Piper reached on an error and advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Bodenlos. With one out, she stole third and came home on Baer's single that hit off Andrea Kelley's glove in the circle for the 4-3 win.

The Fighting Scots started with three straight hits to open the first inning, including a double by Kim Skully and then a home run from Staples for an early 2-0 lead.

Allegheny took advantage of two out of three errors committed by Wooster in the bottom of the first to make it a 2-1. With one out, Katie Wills reached on an error. Marci Potuzko also got to first on another error to plate Wills.

After three innings with zeroes across the board, the Fighting Scots added a run in the top of the sixth. Lauren Sargi tripled and rounded home on Marissa Stover's sacrifice fly to left field.

The Gators rallied in the bottom of the frame thanks to Potuzko's triple to right field that sent in Artino and Wills, who singled in their turns at bat. Allegheny got the final say in the ninth with the game-winning run by Piper.

Steph Baer earned the win in game one, pitching eight innings and allowing one run on five hits against 29 batters.

In the opener, the Gators did most of the damage in the bottom of the second by plating four runs on as many hits. First up was Artino, who went 200 feet over left field fence for her sixth home run of the season. Wills singled and Potuzko reached on an error.

Hurler Katie Pifer struck out the next two batters, before Piper smacked a double to bring home Artino and Wills, while a triple from Bodenlos drove in Potuzko and Piper for a 4-0 lead.

Allegheny added a run in the third, two more in the fourth before ending game two with the eight-run rule. Potuzko doubled to center field and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Elizabeth Burr. Downey reached on an error and Potuzko crossed the plate for the final run.

The Gators return to action on Saturday against Kenyon. The NCAC doubleheader begins at 1 p.m.
