BoxscoreMEADVILLE, Pa. - Emily Fink and Morgan McNamara combined for 10 goals to lead Fredonia past Allegheny 15-9 in non-conference women's lacrosse action on Thursday at Frank B. Fuhrer field.
Fink scored all five of her goals in the decisive second half and McNamara spread her five over the two halves to help the Blue Devils (7-1) pick up their seventh win of the season. Jensen Paterson followed up her four-goal performance yesterday by matching her season high of six goals to pace the Gators (4-6).
Nicole Faulise made 12 saves on 22 shots faced for the victory in the net.
After McNamara tallied the first goal of the contest in the opening 53 seconds for Fredonia, Allegheny managed to score the next three in just one minute, two seconds for a two-goal lead. Paterson netted back-to-back goals and Kiah Voyer-Colbath made it a 3-1 game with an unassisted tally at the 26:44 mark.
McNamara and Amy Simon contributed two goals apiece over a 5-0 run for the Blue Devils to regain the lead at 6-3. Colbath cut the lead to 6-4 with her second goal of the day with 2:51 left in the half.
Fredonia extended its lead with two straight goals to start the second half, but it was Paterson who spearheaded the comeback attempt with three straight goals over a 2:17 span to put the Gators within one.
The Blue Devils used a 6-1 run to finish out the half, getting three goals from Fink to put the game out of reach for Allegheny.
Meg Grossman led the Gators with four draw controls, while Rachel Coons and Becca O'Shurak made three saves each.
Allegheny will play their third game in four days on Saturday at home against Wittenberg. Game time is 12 p.m.
