MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny men’s swimming and diving team picked up its second North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) win of the season with a 122-77 victory over Hiram on Saturday in the Mellon Pool.
The Gators (5-3, 2-0 NCAC) swept the first four individual events and swept the diving competition to built a commanding lead for their fourth consecutive dual-meet victory. Brandon Intrieri and Mirno Pasquali were double winners on the day, collecting two first-place finished apiece.
In the first three freestyle events, Brandon Staley led Matt Gauthier and Kristoffer Wigley with a 1, 2, 3 finish. Staley swam in 10:39.44, Gauthier touched in 10:42.02 and Wigley came in 10:53.77.
In the 200 free, Pasquali got his first win with a time of 1:51.20 followed by Ashton Kinney in second (1:54.80) and Evan Lewis in third (2:00.36). Intrieri won the 50 free in 22.05 for his first of two victories. Tim O’Brien and Matthew Ehmann were second and third, respectively. O’Brien touched in 23.47 and Ehmann was close with 23.80.
The 400 IM was the last swimming event Allegheny swept. Christian Steinwarz set the pace for first in 4:30.90 and Tyler Torbet was just a second behind in 4:31.94. Kinney collected third in 4:47.90.
The second win for Intrieri came in the 100 free (48.63) and for Pasquali it was the 200 backstroke (1:58.77). Kinney, who already had a second and third place under his belt, won the 500 free in 5:14.27.
Josh Sesek tabbed his only win in the 200 breaststroke in 2:18.09.
Patrick Juber won both the one-meter and three-meter diving events. He posted a score of 177.80 in the one meter and 142.70 in the three meter. Ryan Mazzone earned points with second place in the one meter with a score of 130.50.
Allegheny returns to action on Friday at Carnegie Mellon. Meet time is 6 p.m.
