MEADVILLE, Pa. – Jill Gregory shot 70 percent from the floor (7-for-10), scoring a game-high 19 points to lead Allegheny over Hiram 68-53 in North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) action on Tuesday night.

The Gators (8-11, 5-5 NCAC) held a 32-16 advantage on points in the paint and scored 19 points on turnovers to snap a two-game skid against the Terriers (3-16, 2-7 NCAC). Brittany Bell was also in double figures with 13 points.

Two players scored double digits off the bench for Hiram. Jess Cowan had a team-high 12 points and Amy Geisman added 11 points. Leading scorer Brittany Mayle chipped in 10.

Allegheny started out the game with a 9-0 run, beginning with an Emilie Simone jumper. Gregory and Heidi Goeller each made a free throw before Simone got another two points and Laura Magnelli drained a trey for the first nine points of the game.

Another Magnelli triple and a Gregory layup gave the Gators their largest lead of the half at 18-5 with 11:39 left. The Terriers chipped away at the lead and four straight points by Cowan cut the deficit to seven points (28-21). Under two minutes, Alex Dellas drove in for the layup to get within five, but Gregory responded with a layup of her own for a 36-29 halftime lead.

The Allegheny defense went into full gear in the second half, only allowing Hiram to put up three points in the first 7:18 of the half. In the meantime, the Gators jumped out to an 18-point advantage after a bucket by Gregory to make it 51-33.

The lead continued to grown and reached to 66-46 at the 2:33 mark.
