Dipre Places Third In Mile, Earns All-America Honor

GREENCASTLE, Ind. -- Allegheny junior Tony Dipre placed third in the men's mile at the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III Track & Field Championships, claiming his second straight All-America honor in the event, on Saturday at DePauw.

Dipre crossed the finish line in 4:11.92 behind national champion Ryan Guarino of Fredonia (4:09.99) and runner-up Will Yochum of Amherst (4:11.31).

Dipre was an All-American last season in the indoor mile when he placed eighth. This is his third overall All-Division III honor. He placed 25th at the D-III Cross Country Championships in 2008 to earn his first.

Mia Symoniak competed for the Gators on the women's side. She placed 12th in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 17:44.39. Wendy Pavlis of St. Lawrence won the race in 16:59.40.
