MEADVILLE, Pa. – Three members of the Allegheny softball team were named to the 2010 All-North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) squad, announced on Friday afternoon. Senior infielder Maggie Bodenlos and junior pitcher Amanda Downey were selected to the second team, while newcomer Stephanie Fort was given honorable mention.
Bodenlos, a co-captain and third baseman, is earning her third straight all-conference honor. She was named to the second team in 2008 and the first team in 2009. Bodenlos has started every game this season, ranking first on the team in runs (24), doubles (11) and home runs (4). She also tallied 35 hits and batted .324, while going 8-for-9 on stolen bases.
Downey is making her second appearance on the second team after being recognized in 2008. She recorded a 1.42 ERA with a 3-4 record in the NCAC. She made 18 overall appearances and started 14 games on the hill. Downey won five games and struck out 59 batters.
Fort ranked second on the team in batting average with .353 in just her first season with the Gators. She tallied 36 hits, five doubles, two triples and two home runs. Fort tied for first with 13 stolen bases, while also scoring 16 runs.
