Allegheny baseball players Matt Dishong and Matt Stahl were named to the American Baseball Coaches Association All-Mideast Region Second Team, which was released on Monday night.
Dishong, a senior right-handed pitcher, was the North Coast Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year and a member of the All-NCAC First Team. He finished 5-3 with a 2.65 earned-run average and 72 strikeouts in 68 innings pitched. While making 14 appearances, including nine starts, he had four complete games -- one of which was a shutout. Batters hit .238 against Dishong.
Stahl was named to the All-NCAC Second Team after batting .500 on the season. The junior first baseman was Allegheny's most feared hitter in 2010 -- evidenced by his team-leading five intentional walks. He had 61 hits and a .562 on-base percentage.
Stahl led the Gators in several categories, including batting, on-base, hits, RBIs (39), total bases (83) and slugging (.680). He tied for the team lead in homers (4) and was second in runs scored (36). Stahl added 10 doubles to his season totals and struck out only seven times in 122 at-bats.
