Meadville, Pa. – On Monday, Allegheny College Director of Athletics and Recreation Betsy Mitchell announced the appointment of Daniel Gallegos as the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications & Sports Marketing. Gallegos’ duties will include administration of the day-to-day operations of the sports information office, while assisting in the development and maintenance of the Gators’ athletic web presence and promotion of the college’s 21 intercollegiate sports.

Gallegos comes to Allegheny College after spending the past three years as the student assistant sports information director at the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, Ark. As a student assistant at Ozarks, Gallegos served as the primary contact for women’s basketball and baseball, and played a key role in the promotion of the Eagles’ eight additional programs.

Capitalizing on a deep and passionate interest in broadcasting, Gallegos served as the radio play-by-play announcer for men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, and softball. As the play-by-play announcer for baseball, Gallegos broadcasted five American Southwest Conference playoffs games.

Gallegos graduated from Ozarks in May 2010 with a bachelor of arts in Strategic Communications and was twice named ASC Academic All Conference for sports information.
